Mr. Al Arag, while at Dewberry Engineers Inc, has worked on and contributed to the Metro-North railroad project in 2011-2013.

Mr. Al Arag was involved in locating, inspecting, evaluating and cataloguing all drainage structures on Metro-North’s Hudson, Harlem and New Haven lines within New York State. Mr. Al Arag and the team goal was to determine the existing condition of Metro-North’s drainage facilities. This included visual inspections, culverts and stream crossings to allow for thorough field inspections and evaluations to be completed. The location of all drainage structures were recorded by global positioning. The site, configuration and photographs of each structure were recorded, and all data was imported into Metro-North’s Geographical Information System.

In addition, Mr. Al Arag involved in performing a pilot study to establish a system wide flood control program within an 8-mile area on the Hudson line between Tarrytown and Ossining was performed. Mr. Al Arag also conducted a literature review on the rainfall, topography, land cover, streams, outfalls, railroads, existing drainage structures (pipe and culverts) and bridges, and existing flood studies within this area, and has performed Hydrologic and hydraulic analyses to determine the flooding extent.
