New York State Brownfield Cleanup Program Interim Remedial Measure

Hydro Tech Environmental is providing environmental engineering services related to the implementation of an Interim Remedial Measure for a metal plating facility enrolled in the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) Brownfield Cleanup Program.

The 13,722-square-foot site located at 71-483 20th Street in the Prospect Park West section of Brooklyn is an active sandblasting and metal coating facility. Hydro Tech was involved in performing a site investigation to characterize the environmental quality of the soil and soil vapor. The remedial investigation identified chlorinated compounds in various media (soil, soil vapor) both on and off site. As a result, Hydro Tech subsequently conducted an SVE Pilot Study in order to assess the effectiveness of an SVE system as an engineering control. The pilot study involved the installation of soil vapor extraction and subsurface vacuum monitoring wells.

The results of the study were used to design an SVE system as the final site remedy. Currently, Hydro Tech is installing the SVE system.
