EPA Certified Lead Inspector can perform inspections to determine the presence or absence of lead in lead-based paint and lead in other surface coverings and lead in soil, dust and drinking water. The testing can be done on-site using x- ray fluorescence (XRF) analysis with portable analytical instruments or by the collection of samples (ex. paint chip) for laboratory analysis. A Lead Inspector can also collect clearance samples (again to check the presence or absence of lead) after lead abatement has been performed. The XRF provides a quick non-evasive way of testing for lead in paint.
